Hero Complex Film Festival - X-Files Back on the Big Screen

The fans keep talking about it. Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson keep talking about it. We keep telling FOX The X-Files franchise is not dead yet. If this does not show how big the X-Phile audience is out there, we don't know what else to say.

The Chinese 6 Theater in Hollywood is bringing our beloved show back to the big screen for one night only. In honor of the show's 20th anniversary this year, there will be a special closing-night event during the Hero Complex FIlm Festival with a special tribute to The X-Files. Fans will vote on what episodes they wish to see and the top 3 will be screened at the closing-night event. You can choose from a list of 11 episodes including Pilot, Post-Modern Prometheus and Home!

They are also announcing there might be a special guest present at the special event to discuss the series.

The Hero Complex Film Festival will take place in Hollywood, May 10-12th. For more information on this event, please check their website here.

Cary Elwes Joins Calgary Expo

Cary Elwes Joins Calgary Expo

by patricia_silva@xfilesnews.com (Patricia Silva - Staff Reporter)

If you thought Gillian Anderson, Robert Patrick and Mitch Pileggi were enough to create an X-Files reunion at Calgary Expo this coming spring, think again. One more X-Files alumni has beed added to the already amazing line-up of guests at this fast-growing con, Cary Elwes, AKA Asistant Director Brad Follmer.

Yes, yes, some of us may have hated him a little (maybe a lot; maybe he got in the way of your ship), but he redeems himself and helps get things right in the end. You might also recognize Cary Elwes from his roles in The Princess Bride and the Sawmovies.

The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo will take place in Calgary, AB April 26-28. Check out their website for more details on the Expo.

Chris Carter to Produce the New "X-Files" Comics

Chris Carter to Produce the New "X-Files" Comics

by roi_ollson@xfilesnews.com (Roileigh Ollson - Managing Editor)

Remember those new X-Files comics that are coming out this summer? Well it looks as if they're going to be even more fantastic than we thought because Chris Carter is personally taking part in their production. The comic series is subtitled "Season 10" and Chris will be executive producing them. Currently, he is "personally reading outlines and scripts, providing feedback and suggestions."

Writer Joe Harris and artist Michael Walsh will be working on the new comics. Comic Book Resources recently invterviewed Harris, and he had a lot of interesting things to say about the new adventures coming for Mulder and Scully. Some of the highlights:

"It picks up some time after the last movie and re-introduces Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, along with plenty of the supporting cast of characters everyone remembers and would expect to see."

"We're going to re-establish the mythology, the ever-elusive but tireless quest to discover "the Truth," while conspiratorial elements work against our heroes from both within the government, as well as outside of it, and we're going to dig into plenty of paranormal threats including some that just might be of the extraterrestrial variety."

"They're [Mulder and Scully] together in this series. They're an item. But it's not nearly that simple, or easy, and there are extenuating circumstances related to who they are and what they've been through, both together and apart, that will really test them."

"Another thing I plan on doing every now and again is creating what amounts to a sequel for some classic standalone "Monster of the Week" stories. We've already got one of these in the works and, I do suspect, it's going to get some people excited when they hear about it."

Update: The first issue will be released June 19th, 2013.

In the opening story arc, “Believers,” readers will catch up with Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, living normal lives together under secret identities. However, a visit from an old friend threatens to rip them from suburban anonymity, as they learn that someone is preying upon everyone involved in THE X-FILES. Prepare to revisit familiar faces—some very unexpected, threats old and new, and an intriguing mystery designed to return the beloved franchise to its former glory!
