The truth is out there: I've recently reported here and here on the increasing trend of porn parodies of popular TV shows, past and present, and I'm not at all surprised by the news today, via XBIZ.com, that at least one company is stepping up to defend its trademark: New Sensations draws fire from 20th Century Fox over X-Files parody.
20th Century Fox is apparently more protective of its trademarks than NBC: New Sensations has recently released porn parodies of The Office, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Friends, and 30 Rock, seemingly without much fuss.
In a statement released today, Digital Sin/New Sensations responds that it “does not believe that its intended product infringes on the rights of Fox. However, in the spirit of cooperation, the company has decided to respond to Fox’s concerns by adapting the title to The Sex Files: A Dark XXX Parody.”
Fleshbot.com (NSFW) posted some preview photos from the parody last month. The film, which stars Kimberly Kane and Anthony Rosano filling in some of the blanks many X-Files fans had previously left to the imagination, is due out in September.
