The end of Summer is approaching and it can only mean one thing: it is time for another SciFi Convention is Toronto. This time however, philes have a reason to be excited about the Expo because a few X-Files alumni are going to be making an appearance.

Who's coming you ask, none other than Lance Henriksen and Martin Landau among other SciFi actors. These two actors are no strangers to X-Files and Millennium fans out there. Henriksen played Frank Black in the season 7 episode 'Millennium' and Chris Carter's brilliant series of the same name. Landau is none other than Dr. Alvin Kurtzweil in Fight The Future.

The X-Files - The Greatest Sci-Fi TV Of All Time?

The X-Files - The Greatest Sci-Fi TV Of All Time?

from X-Files News by p_silva197@hotmail.com (Patricia Silva - Staff Reporter)

Philes have been telling everyone that for years but now so has Sci-Fi Now, which has released a special edition with an eminent collection of the greatest Sci-Fi shows and films released to date. Undoubtedly, our beloved X-Files made the cut.

The magazine, which names The X-Files one of TV's biggest successes, has a complete guide that goes from describing the characters and monsters to naming the best and worst episodes in the series.

"The X-Files built the foundation for virtually every big-budget TV show (sci-fi or otherwise) that would follow in the wake of his (Chris Carter's) two FBI agents' exploits with the supernatural."

from X-Files News by ROI_OLLSON@XFILESNEWS.COM (Erica Fraga - Guest Writer)

According to the latest episode of Dean Haglund's podcastChillpak Hollywood Hour, a new network named Youtoo TV has bought the syndication rights to 60 episodes of The X-Files(seasons 1-3), with rights to the rest of the series to be obtained later.

Youtoo will broadcast the series in order, and Dean will be on hand to share anecdotes and backstories about each episode. In addition, Youtoo will feature a social media interaction section where fans can submit a 15 second "Fame Spot" about a particular theme seen in each episode.  Fans can go to thewebsite and upload their video, which will immediately be shown during that same episode.  Dean gives this example:

If there is an episode about clones, we’ll [ask], "Have you ever been cloned or if you could, would you clone yourself? Why or why not?" A discussion will be started and everyone will be making these little movies and having some interesting dialogue and fun in between watching X-Files episodes.

According to Dean's podcast, Youtoo will be part of the Time Warner cable package, so keep your eyes open to your local channel listings. No air date as of yet, but once available, XFN will keep you updated. In the meantime, catch Dean and Phil every Monday for the Chillpak Hollywood Hour.

Howard Gordon @ Comic-Con

Howard Gordon @ Comic-Con

from X Files Latest News by tiffany_devol@xfilesnews.com (Avi Quijada - Editor-in-Chief)

During our visit to the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, we had the pleasure of sharing a few minutes with X-Files Writer/Producer, Howard Gordon. He was one busy man at the convention.
He was promoting two new shows on his slate: Homeland airing on Showtime & Awake airing on NBC this Fall. As Executive Producer of the show, he participated in a heavily attended screening and Q&A for Awake, in company of the show's creator, Kyle Killen and lead actor Jason Isaacs, best known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise.
The show is set up as a complex police drama around the life of Detective Michael Britten, who’s living in two different worlds – one where his wife has died and a second where his son has died after the three of them suffer a car accident.
He also promoted his first thriller novel, Gideon’s War. The book has been one of the best sellers and “must haves” in the reviews on sites like Amazon & Barnes & Noble, and he was good enough to hook the XFN team up with hardcover issues of the book! Expect our own review soon!
With the wrap of 24 and the talks of a 24 movie in the works, the next months seem impossibly busy for Gordon, but even so, he was really excited to be in this position in his career and we might have him soon on our XFN Studio podcast.
Check out Gideon’s War at your local bookstore or in its digital format through the Kindle Store.
Homeland airs on Showtime on Sunday, October 2nd at 10 PM  & Awake airs on NBC this Fall.

Gillian Anderson No Longer Attached to 'Morton'

Gillian Anderson No Longer Attached to 'Morton'

from X Files Latest News by tiffany_devol@xfilesnews.com (Tiffany Devol - Content Director)

According to an interview released just minutes ago on Futon Critic, Gillian Anderson is no longer attached to Frank Spotnitz' new series, Morton.

Gillian was first in consideration for the project 2 years ago when Frank began talking to her about doing a spy series. When asked by Jim Halterman why Gillian was no longer attached to the project, Frank responded that he thought the reason was that it took longer than expected and, "by the time we had our yes she couldn't do it anymore." The interview also confirms that the role Gillian was to take on in Morton was written specifically for her.

Frank admits there will be differences, but that the scripts will be written before filming begins in the fall.

XFN first reported on Gillian's possible involvement back in January.

For more, head over to the Futon Critic.

From Spain, with "Electronic" Love

From Spain, with "Electronic" Love

from X-Files News by alleyphile@yahoo.com (Avi Quijada - Editor-In-Chief)

Kill Bill G is a synthpop/electronica music group created in 2005 by Patxi Villegas (Numan) and Luis Angel Diaz-Faes (CyberMODE).

Kill Bill G has always been known for creating songs with a strong influence from their heroes such as La Femme Fatale,  the science fiction series Lexx, Galactica, and agents Mulder and Scully from The X-Files.

Science Fiction and a touch of pain is what characterizes Kill Bill G’s lyrics, and above it all, their devotion to The X-Files.

Their second album, Tunguska (Noise Records, 2010), has a number of songs dedicated to the hit Fox series such as “Tunguska,” “Mulder,” “Atmosfera Alien” (Alien Atmosphere), and “Y no paran de girar” (and they don’t stop spinning).

For 2011, they are releasing “Cancer Man” and “Scully” on their new album, Tardis (Noise Records, 2011).

Kill Bill G plans to release remixes of their X-Files creations on EsX Redux, and to assist with the XF3 Army’s Believe in the Future campaign, they are releasing “Tunguska EsX Redux” on August 9th 2011 which will also coincide with Gillian Anderson’s birthday.

Can’t get enough Kill Bill G? Word is a new EsX EP will release sometime this winter and will include a compilation of all of their X-Files songs.

The Pictures are Out There!

The Pictures are Out There!

from X Files Latest News by tiffany_devol@xfilesnews.com (The XFN Team)

Saturday July 30th, brought together Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, Chris Carter, and 200 philes to raise over $32,000 for IBG's Special Conversation Series to benefit SA-YES.

XFN was in attendance and spent the evening tweeting until our fingers went numb as many of you re-tweeted and joined the fun! The amount of messages and tweets coming through at one time even locked up our iPad on more than one occasion.

In the signing room, we showed Gillian and Chris the tweets coming in and they were blown away at the support for the charity, for each of them and for XF3 in particular!

"What are you guys doing? What can we do!?" - Gillian excitedly asked XFN staff.

It's been five days since the event but the excitement is still in the air and since we know five days is a long time to wait for event photos, we hope you will enjoy the time it took us to pretty them up for you! (The lighting was low in the room and flash photography was prohibited.)

Congrats to IBG for putting together this event, and for those who were unable to make it, be sure to order the event DVD!.

Gillian's L.A. Appearances

Gillian's L.A. Appearances

from X Files Latest News by ROI_OLLSON@XFILESNEWS.COM (Roileigh Ollson - Managing Editor)

Tomorrow's event isn't Gillian Anderson's only reason for being in Los Angeles; this past week, Gillian made several television appearances promoting Moby Dick and SA-YES. If you weren't some of the lucky few Philes in L.A. who attended the tapings, we've got the next best thing.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno aired tonight at 11:35pm ET with Gillian as it's headliner. She spoke aboutMoby Dick, her children, her accent, and her favorite swear words. You won't hear it on TV the way XFN heard it in person though, because the swear section was pretty colorful.

The interview went off without a hitch though, except maybe for the mouthful of hairspray she got during a commercial break. Check out this clip of her appearance, and watch out for the full episode that will soon be posted on the show's website.
