Frank Spotnitz' statement on XF3

Frank Spotnitz' statement on XF3

from X-Files News by srta.avi@gmail.com (Avi Quijada - Editor In Chief)

Frank Spotnitz has written on his blog about the possibilities on the production of XF3.

Please follow the link.

XF3

by Frank Spotnitz

Since The X-Files: I Want to Believe was released more than three years ago, the question I have been asked most often is, “When is the next X-Files movie coming?”

The box-office performance of the last film has made it difficult to answer. Some people said the audience just wasn’t there anymore. Others blamed the subject matter, the relatively modest budget, the lack of promotion, the release date, or the movie itself.

But wherever the finger of blame was pointed, I told everyone and anyone who would listen that it would be a mistake to count out The X-Files. “Don’t give up,” I kept saying, echoing the line Father Crissman told Scully in the last film.

Support from fans around the world, frequently spearheaded by the amazing team at XFilesNews.com, has been unwavering. Time and again, X-Philes have mounted imaginative and powerful campaigns to get the studio’s attention – to remind 20th Century Fox that they are sitting on one of the greatest franchises in history, a creative and commercial gold mine that has been left languishing.

Now we are only eight months away from December 2012, the series’ fabled date for alien colonization. I wish I could write today to announce that a script has been written, or even commissioned. Despite my cheerleading, cajoling and plain nagging these past few years, that is not the case.

But I am not writing today to say I am giving up.

I am writing to say it is not too late to make a third X-Files movie.

I am writing to say I still believe the audience is out there for an epic film that would bring to a close the series’ rich and complex alien storyline.

I am writing to say leaving the last chapter of this great story untold is a terrible shame and great waste.

I am writing to say I won’t give up.

And I hope you won’t, either.

Wow oh Wow, me being an x files will love this and I will never give up on getting a xf3 and will work hard to post all content related to x files and anyone that has to do with it, in the past and for the future..stay tuned for more news and see where the xphiles are at…

Scully: A Kick-Ass TV Heroine

Scully: A Kick-Ass TV Heroine

from X-Files News by roi_ollson@xfilesnews.com (Roileigh Ollson - Managing Editor)

To no one's surprise here, the enigmatic Dana Scully has been named in Stylist.co.uk's list of 25 Kick-Ass TV Heroines. Almost 20 years since she walked onto our screens and the woman is still bringing the heat. Let's hope FOX takes note:

Special agent/doctor Dana Scully was the tough-woman pin-up of 90s sci-fi TV. The sceptical counterpart to her partner, agent Fox Mulder, (a true believer in the paranormal) she confronts all manner of strange phenomena, from secret alien invasions and kidnappings to graphic experiments, and was hailed by The Huffington Post as 'one of the most iconic characters in the science-fiction genre.'

Head over to the article and give Scully the five star rating she deserves. And while there you might notice some familiar faces--including Carrie Mathison from Gordon and Gansa's Homeland. Scully is among some good company, though no one else will ever hold our hearts quite like she does.

Unless there's a "Milagro" situation happening, in which case, someone call 911...

Head on over to eBay to check it out, and remember to bid high because all the money raised goes to SA-YES

Mulder: One of TV's Most Memorable Detectives

Mulder: One of TV's Most Memorable Detectives

from X-Files News by srta.avi@gmail.com (Avi Quijada - Editor-In-Chief)

"I have lived with a fragile faith built on vague memories from an experience that I could neither prove nor explain. When I was 12, my sister was taken from me, taken from our home by a force that I came to believe was extraterrestrial. This belief sustained me, fueling a quest for truths that were as elusive as the memory itself. To believe as passionately as I did was not without sacrifice, but I always accepted the risks -- to my career, my reputation, my relationships, to life itself."

That's exactly what made Fox Mulder one of the Most Memorable Detectives of TV of All Time, according to Huffington Post. If you want to check out the other contenders, click here.

Spotnitz to Attend European TV Drama Lab

Spotnitz to Attend European TV Drama Lab

from X-Files News by tiffany.devol@gmail.com (Jessa Schlitt - Staff Reporter)

The entertainment business in Berlin has been suffering from multiple industry follies such as; writer's block, ephemeral series, and an "extreme case of the Mondays where nothing seems to go right.” Luckily, the producers of long-time running American television shows such as Frank Spotnitz, producer/writer/director of The X-Files, as well as Neil Baer (Law & Order), have been tapped to attend the European TV Drama Series Lab 2012 in Berlin. Frank Spotnitz and other producers “will describe the importance of a showrunner in US productions.”
“The event, organised by the Potsdam-based Erich Pommer Institut in association with MediaXchange, is spilt across two workshops, taking place on April 24-29 and June 9-15.” The first workshop will focus more on narrative structures of series (which is where Mr. Spotnitz will be) while the second module is dedicated to exploring the US concept of the writers room.

The X-Files' Gillian Anderson: I've Had Lesbian Relationships

Gillian Anderson just put a little more truth out there.

The X-Files heroine reveals in the latest issue of Out magazine that she has had romantic relationships with women over the years.

"I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school," the 43-year-old mother of three said, recalling other past relationships that included a "punk rock drug addict" and somebody "way, way older" than her as well.

But obviously Out wanted to know a little bit more about her high school days...

"Yeah, yeah, well it's..." she began. "You know, I'm old enough that I can talk about that."

Alas, the actress who played the cool, calm and frustratingly skeptical Dana Scully didn't say much more about it.

Anderson did maintain that her liaisons with women have been the exception to the rule.

The twice-divorced star of the BBC adaptation of Great Expectations (airing soon on PBS' Masterpiece) has a 17-year-old daughter with her first husband, whom she was married to for three years. She also has two sons, 5 and 3, with current love Mark Griffiths.

Scully Tops the List

Scully Tops the List

from X-Files News by roi_ollson@xfilesnews.com (Roileigh Ollson - Managing Editor)

In honor of International Women's Day, RadioTimes.com celebrated with a list of some of television's strongest women. And it's no surprise to us that Special Agent/Doctor/Alien Fighter Extraordinaire Dana Scully topped the list:

Whether she was tackling aliens, killers, government conspiracies or Fox Mulder’s credulity, the medical doctor and FBI agent took it all in her stride, often simultaneously battling some unfortunate hairdos. Smart, courageous and resourceful, Scully was never afraid to say what she thought – or back up a friend.

Keep up the great work, Scully. You make us all proud.

CAA Signs Chris Carter

CAA Signs Chris Carter

from X-Files News by holly_simon@xfilesnews.com (Avi Quijada - Editor-In-Chief)

From Deadline.Com

The X-Files creator Chris Carter has signed with CAA. Carter had been a longtime client of Bob Broder, first at BWCS and most recently at ICM following the agencies’ 2006 merger. After a decade away from TV, Carter last fall teamed with MRC to shop female-driven mystery thriller spec Unique, which ultimately didn’t sell.

He is attached as an executive producer to another spec, written by feature scribe Jon Bokenkamp, which is being shopped to cable networks by Sony TV. In addition to The X-Files, which ran on Fox for 9 seasons, Carter created Harsh Realm and Millennium and co-created the X-Files spinoff The Lone Gunmen. Since The X-Files ended its run in 2002, Carter has stayed largely out of the spotlight, only resurfacing to do the 2008 X-Files movie sequel and the upcoming thriller Fencewalker. There has been talk recently about a potential third X-Files movie.
